Despite our second blizzard in 10 days, activity was picking up in Northeast Harbor this afternoon as
official spring is just five days away! Meanwhile, the blizzard on Tuesday was mixed with a lot of rain,
leaving huge piles of solid ice everywhere. Be very careful when you are out and about - falling (unlike breaking up) is easy to do!

In case you have been away or just don't get to Somesville very often, you may be interested in knowing that the proposed turn lane allowing north bound traffic to make a right turn at the Somesville light, has been funded. Construction began a couple of weeks ago! This new lane should significantly reduce summer traffic back-ups in Somesville.

CONGRATULATIONS The MDI High School Boys Basketball Team defeated Wells 59-39 at the Augusta Civic Center this evening
to win the Maine State Championship! It was their first trip to a state championship game in 22 years!

This sophisticated piece of space-age technology performs all functions of a common weather rock - wet (it's raining); white (it's snowing); etc. - but it also indicates the direction from which the weather is coming! We are currently in the middle of the second and much larger Blizzard of February 2017! This one is 48 hours long, starting late yesterday afternoon and not ending until tomorrow morning! We are forecast to receive upwards of 24 inches with high wind gusting to 60 mph! We appear to be about halfway there!

This morning's ice storm caused treacherous driving conditions here along the coast and is producing a mixed
bag of ice, sleet, freezing rain and snow inland! Schools, town offices, and some businesses are closed over
